Helga 29803's story
Helga is a 2-year-old female Spaniel mix who must be spayed before she is adopted.  She may be a mix of a Cocker Spaniel and a Field Spaniel.  Helga's coat is black with just a bit of white markings on her chest.  She currently weighs 37 pounds so she is considered to be a medium sized dog.  Helga came to PAHS as a stray from out in the county; and since her owners never came looking for her she is now available for adoption.  It appears Helga has recently had puppies but no puppies were found with her.  She is a very sweet girl who appreciates every kind word and affection that is given to her.  Helga is calm and well behaved.  She would be a wonderful family dog who would be both patient and kind with your children.  Helga would also not mind sharing her home with other dogs.  We love her second picture where she is just enjoying the warm breeze on her face and taking a moment to smell the daisies!  In her third picture she shows her comical side by sticking her tongue out for her pictures.  Helga is just an absolutely wonderful girl who deserves a new start on life and a much better home.  Please consider helping this sweet soul find the perfect home.  If you can't adopt Helga please share her pictures and bio to help her new family find her.
You may remember our directed spay/neuter campaign this past spring--'Spay Neuter Autauga County'-- which was made possible by a $20,000 Petco Lifesaving Grant. PAHS has remaining funds from this grant and we are happy to announce that effective December 1, 2018 all adoptions will be reduced by half! For the month of December (as funds will allow) cat adoption fees will be $25 and dog adoptions $60. We are thrilled to offer this gift to the animals and people of our community. Upon partnering with Petco and receiving these monies, PAHS pledged to work toward 'live outcomes' with shelter animals; we believe half-price adoptions will fulfill this promise and is a great way to end the year!  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, discounted spay/neuter certificate, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices.   Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heartworm negative.
